W...H...Y...???

The last month and a half has been the most hectic period of time for most students and their parents, even I have faced that phase. Results, admission procedures, basically a crossroads for quite a lot of population in the society. Students I came across were spread across all categories, from average to excellent scoring students...
However, something that most of those students were missing, by my observation, was a will to learn something new, to do something good, to achieve something. Mind you, this is not about just engineering or medical or just technical education in general. This is about anything, any possible career option from architecture, archaeology, psychology, politics, and much more!
This actually put my brain into motion as to why that will, that ambition was missing from those children, those teenagers... Why is that my generation or for that matter, our earlier generation still able to compete with us when it comes to learning something, understanding something?

What I concluded was this simple word WHY...

Now, linking up three letters to the future of the nation, the attitude of youths might seem quite casual initially but upon deeper inspection it actually makes sense. I'll try and simplify...
A lot of people, students, parents, children, juniors, etc frequently ask me, how do I know so many things, or how is my knowledge up to date, or how do I always manage to have a say in almost any topic going on around. How does one develop that skill? A few people managed to convince me initially by saying it was a natural gift, a genetic inheritance given the fact that my father has a much more deeper and much more vast vault of knowledge...
But somehow I din't remain convinced for too long and I decided to work up some pattern, some formula, some logic that could, if not ensure the best but at least enhance the knowledge content of a person. And that is when these three letters struck me...
The formula, again only as per my observation, is pretty simple and effective consisting of just two steps:
  1. Whatever be, ask "WHY?"...
  2. Try to find an answer to this "WHY"...
This simple formula if properly implemented will definitely help anyone and everyone. It's not just about science, this formula works for absolutely ANYTHING! Science, history, geography, drawing, literature, design, fashion, art, commerce, just everything! The only thing that matters is the intensity with which you pursue step 2. How you manage to get the answers is irrelevant. What only matters is that you try. Even pursuing a wrong answer is fine because ultimately, time will take you to the right answer, anyhow. So, just be curious about everything. And never stop, just go on asking why because these three letters hold the key to explore everything!

Now, only if anyone must have thought and asked themselves, "WHY did he write this article?" ;)

Welcome to The Appledore

The name does sound weird in the first place but it might ring a few bells in the minds of those who might have seen the classic British TV series, Sherlock. The name Appledore, as inspired from the same is a reference to a vault, that contains the information to almost every person in the world.
As a matter of fact, Appledore is in reality, a village in the United Kingdom which by the context does seem really irrelevant but is an attempt to keep the facts alive, and minds away from fantasies.

The reference is taken because the blog will tend to link various real life happenings to science in as much depth and lucidity as possible. Also, there would be frequent philosophical attempts to make sure that no one (people not interested in science and the ones interested as well) would actually be bored.

In fact, this blog is also an attempt to make sure I am able to share my thoughts with as many people as possible.I'm pretty sure that this will not be a hardcore science blog but will ensure that people do enjoy the time here and not find it a waste of time. I will be posting lot of inquisitive stuff, things that might be new and interesting for a lot of people, a few challenges even, and at the same time will try to express myself and try to make sure that we really don't lose our emotional selves to the realm  That pretty much sums up the first post here. Do keep in touch for the greater good i.e. mine as well as everyone else's.

So, set your mind palaces and welcome aboard to the Appledore!

This is the source of inspiration, The Appledore, vault of knowledge from Sherlock...
And that is the real Appledore, a pretty sweet village, isn't it?
